Senior Adults Specialty Research is a private clinical trials site located in Austin, Texas. We specialize in conducting clinical trials for neurological and psychiatric disorders affecting older adults, including Alzheimer’s disease, Mild Cognitive Impairment, Alzheimer’s Prevention and others.
Our mission is to conduct research using the highest industry standards for Good Clinical Practice and to provide exceptional care to our participants and their families. Site Capabilities
Senior Adults Specialty Research conducts Phase II, III and IV clinical trials. Our primary principal investigator Jaron L. Winston, MD, is board certified in general and geriatric psychiatry. Dr. Winston directly oversees all aspects of the clinical research practice. John A. Bertelson, MD, FAAN, is a board-certified behavioral neurologist and has experience as a Principal Investigator and Sub-Investigator. Cherie Simpsons, Ph.D, APRN, CNS-BC is also a Sub-Investigator on our trials.

Additional Information
- Our site always uses a Central IRB.
- All site staff receive annual training in ICH/Good Clinical Practice guidelines.
- Sponsor and CRO relationships include most large and small companies in CNS
- Site has a dedicated clinician to oversee participant pre-screening and recruitment. Our clinic consistently meets or exceeds enrollment goals with low screen failure and attrition rates.
- Two private, dedicated office spaces for monitors, with WIFI connection and a copier.
- All site personnel have desktop computers with high-speed internet.
- Our coordinators have experience with most eCRF or electronic data capture systems, as well as IVRS and IWRS
- Site employees experienced psychological and neuropsychological raters with experience in most CNS scales; including, MMSE, MOCA, DRS, ADAS-Cog, ADCS-ADLs, CMAI, CDR, CGI, CGIC, CIBIC, CSSR-S, FAQ, FCSRT, ISLT, NPI, WMS-IV, FCSRT, MADRS, HAM-D, HAM-A, RBANS, YMRS, AIMS, SCID, MINI, Modified Hachinski and others.
- Site has staff to allow for blinded raters.
- We employ three full-time coordinators, a dedicated lab manager, as well as registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, licensed psychologists and affiliated consulting specialists. Sub-investigators include a Board-Certified Behavioral Neurologist and an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who is board certified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Health.
